Exciting Happenings on Sunday, April 22nd

April 22, 2007

The members and visitors of Family Baptist Church on Guam had a very exciting and encouraging meeting on Sunday, April 22nd. This week, the believers that were baptized last Sunday received their baptism certificates. Pastor Aarseth made it clear that it is not baptism that makes us right with God, but salvation comes only by the grace of God by faith — just like Ephesians 2:8-9 says. Paul writes, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Praise God that salvation isn’t up to us. We cannot do anything thing to save ourselves. Salvation is all of God — praise Him for that!

Today we were also blessed with the beautiful sounds and smiling faces of a group of students from the Pacific Islands Bible College. They blessed us with a performance of three beautiful songs, and they, along with Hiob Ngirachemoi, the Dean of Men, and Melissa Heck, the Dean of Women, introduced themselves to us. What a blessing!

Last Fellowship Picnic with the Edwards

April 20, 2007

Last night we enjoyed a final fellowship picnic with the Edwards family at Matapang Beach. There was some wonderful food and some wonderful fellowship and encouragement. We wish the Edwards the best at their next duty station and pray that the Lord will be pleased to encourage them and bless them wherever they might go. Praise God for bringing the Edwards our way and allowing us to get to know them. We’ll miss you!

Thank you to those who brought food, helped setup, and/ or helped cleanup and break things down after the picnic!

Edwards’ Last Sunday and Baptism

April 16, 2007

This weekend the Edwards had their last Sunday service with us. They were given special gifts and cards to show them a bit of our love and appreciation for them. They are such a sweet and God-serving family that will be greatly missed.

Family Baptist Church also baptized a number of people today at the Hilton side of Ypao Beach. It was such an amazing thing to witness. Pastor Jay Aarseth did have to fight the loud music but it was a blessing that many people got to witness such a beautiful event.

We’ve Posted Your Comments

April 13, 2007

We’re sorry for the short delay in getting some comments posted. We have comment moderation on our church blog to prevent any unsightly words to appear. It was just showing up on a different place that we are used to in order to approve it.

Our comments section (on the bottom of each post) will be especially helpful for our church members who are far and away to let us know how they’re doing and what they’d like to share. In fact, Sister Susana was able to post a comment while she was in Hawaii!

We are getting a lot of visitors to our Guam church blog. It is exciting to see how often our church members at Family Baptist Church come to view the blog and use its material. It is also neat to see the various visitors from other states that look at our blog. If there’s anything that you’d like to add, please don’t hesitate to give information to Brother Tim or Sister Franicia. Also, if you are in charge of something at church that needs to get or could use photos of, just let us know. We can send you an invitation to be a blog writer and you will be able to make posts at your convenience.
